Emmerdale can be considered the best debut album ever. 1994 saw the birth of this album, laying down the basis of the cardigans' music. A music that should remain honest and straightforward at the listening while being complex and very diversified at the recording and writing. The songs are often close to the purest expression of joy, whilst flirting perpetually with melancholy. Sick & Tired opens the album with the perfect adjunction of pop melodies and vocals. Nina Persson's voice is soft as a shiver, the tempo is fast, the guitars are acoustic, the drums are incredibly raw and the whole is quite surprising for what is supposed to be a plain folk-pop song. ...continue
