Emm Gryner Interview

Hey everyone! Here is an interview conducted by our own Magnus with Emm Gryner who will be touring with The Cardigans next month on the CWA tour. Read on... and also have a look at some other pictures of Emm from her last visit to Sweden. Enjoy!

Magnus: Hey Emm!

Emm: Hej hej!

Question 1: How long have we actually known each other?

Answer: 6 years

Question 2: What's your fave hockey team?

Answer: Toronto Maple Leafs.

Question 3: What are your feelings on getting on the road with us?

Answer: I am very excited to rock it with everyone! Your albums are some of my all-time favourites. I am hoping my Swedish vocabulary will expand beyond the limits of 'tack' and 'hej' and also hope you might teach me some new dance moves i can take back to Canada.

Question 4: Don't you think we're all very good looking for being Swedes?

Answer: notoriously!!

Question 5: And very well behaved?

Answer: not by Canadian standards.

Question 6: Please state your opinion on these two

A. "If you've seen Malmö, you've seen the world!"
B. "If you've seen Malmö, you've seen Malmö..."
Answer: you are missing "C" which is "If you've seen Magnus' rock n roll bachelor pad, you've seen the world."

Question 7: What is Malmö to you?

Answer: Malmo is one of the most beautiful cities I've ever been to. My boyfriend has an 'I love Malmo' shirt and my mother has clogs from Lilla Torg. I am hoping to adopt a duck from the city park for my dad but I am worried it won't be able to have its own seat on the plane.

Question 8: What is life in Canada like?

Answer: Life in Canada is peaceful and green, like Sweden. Canadian life can be divided into 3 distinct categories: winter, which is long and brutal summer, which lasts about 4 months hockey playoffs, when everyone who is normally very quiet becomes very loud.

Question 9: What are your thoughts on make up foundation? Is it really necessary?

Answer: no but it can look quite attractive on spotty knees.

Question 10: What's your fave Cardigans memory (if any)?

Answer: The cardigans once introduced to Nick Drake's music, which was monumental. i also went to the hair salon in Montreal a few months back, and they were playing Long Gone Before Daylight at full volume. The hairdresser was singing along so passionately, he cut my hair to look like Frodo. No joke. But it's ok, it's grown back.

Question 11: What are your future plans as an artist?

Answer: I am working on 2 records at once right now, an album I've been writing with Mr. Nathan Larson which i've been making in Malmo, and an album of Irish cover songs (because I'm half-Irish!) called "Songs of Love & Death" which I've produced and arranged.

Question 12: Isn't it cute that we spell Canada with a K in Swedish?

Answer: In Canada, Sweden is spelled H-E-A-V-E-N.

Question 13: Do you think Herman the intern will ever make that iron-on "KANADA" print for you?

Answer: I hope so. I will make him an iron-on that says 'come on herman, let's go get some nice soups'.

Magnus: Thanks for this interview, glad to have you onboard the bus in August!

Emm: can't wait. xo
