Fortunately, the album is full of equivalent surprises. Black Letter Day is more of a jazzy song lightening a very quiet side and rested side of the band. The drums are softer and the bass leads the song, only an impromptu abstract guitar solo breaks the musical continuity of the song.

Then follows In The Afternoon, the first song to introduce a real pattern of melancholy. Built on the variation on one chord, the verse constrasts highly with the chorus making full use of the guitar musicality, before leaving piano and vocals leading the song to its climax. The tone of the song is hardly descriptible, let alone by a comparison to the getz/gilberto album, a sort of late afternoon happy-sadness. ...continue
